Rekha Gupta has been named Delhi’s next Chief Minister, marking BJP’s return to power in the capital after 27 years. A first-time MLA, she won the Shalimar Bagh seat in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, defeating AAP’s Bandana Kumari by a massive 29,595 votes.
Gupta’s political career began in 1992 with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Delhi University. She gained prominence as President of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) in 1996-97, focusing on student welfare and activism.

Over the years, she rose through BJP’s ranks, serving in key positions, including General Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha. Known for her strong organizational skills, Gupta played a pivotal role in BJP’s grassroots mobilization in Delhi.

As CM, she faces major challenges, including pollution control, water supply issues, and infrastructure development.
